Chubu is the central region of Japan's main island, home to the towering Japanese Alps and the iconic Mount Fuji on its southern side. Winters bring heavy snowfall to the mountains, with temperatures often dropping to 14°F (-10°C), making this Japan's top spot for skiing at resorts like Hakuba, while hot summers in the Nagoya plains reach 86°F (30°C) and are perfect for hiking the Kamikochi valley trails. In spring, you can see cherry blossoms along the Nakasendo trail in Magome and Tsumago, and autumn offers vibrant foliage at Shirakawa-go's thatched-roof farmhouses.
